A E C M – European Association of Guarantee Institutions
Registered office: Brussels, Belgium

The AECM was founded in 1992 under the Belgian Association Act as an international non-profit association. It operates as an open, democratic organisation, independent of any political or financial group. The AECM currently represents 41 guarantee companies or guarantee associations operating in 20 countries of the European Economic Area, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Kyrgyz Republic, Russia and Turkey.

In accordance with its statutes, the AECM pursues the following main objectives:

  • it represents the joint interests of its member organisations during cooperations with European Union institutions (European Commission, European Parliament and Council), as well as with other multilateral organisations and institutions (OECD, EIB, EIF, BIS, etc.),
  • it reinforces and increases the role of guarantees as instruments facilitating the access to funding for SMEs,
  • it promotes and supports the development and improvement of the legal framework that regulates the financial conditions for the operation of guarantee companies,
  • it fosters and supports the exchange of information and the sharing of best practices among its members.

The AECM operates as a partner of the European Commission, and is supported by the Directorate General Enterprise and Industry.
Garantiqa Creditguarantee Co. Ltd. was an associate member of the AECM through the Hungarian Credit Guarantee Association between 1996 and 2006, and has been a full member since May 2006. Even as an associate member, our company received substantial assistance and support from the AECM in the areas of information exchange, the sharing and dissemination of best practices, product development and liaison with foreign guarantee institutions. Garantiqa Creditguarantee Co. Ltd. is represented in several of the AECM’s working groups (Basel III, State Aid, etc.), and its staff members regularly attend the seminars and conferences hosted by the Association, holding presentations at these events while acquiring valuable and useful information.
